Hood，Raymond Mathewson ( Pawtucket，1881/ Stamford，1934 )

生平簡介

1881年3月29日他出生在Pawtucket，羅德島，1934年8月15日死在Stamford，康涅狄格。1903年畢業於麻省理工學院。1911年在巴黎獲得國立高等美術學院(Ecole National Superieure des Beaux-Arts)的文憑。在芝加哥論壇報大樓(Chicago Tribune Tower)競圖中，他的設計遞交給Howells，John Mead，贏取了他的第一個設計案，並且建造了這棟大樓。之後他成為知名的現代摩天大樓建築師。他的企業Hood& Fouilhoux 執行建造了Daily News大廈，並且和Mc Graw Hill合作建造在紐 約的  McGraw Hill Building。他負責許多建築師委員會的工作，以及為世紀進展博覽會在芝加哥和設計了電子大廈。他是1929年到1931年紐約建築同盟(Architectural League of NewYork)的總理，1926年他獲頒此同盟的勳章。1929年在聖多明哥，他是哥倫布紀念品的國際陪審員。在紐約，他被委託設計布雜(Beaux)藝術學院，同時是Groupe Americain des Architectes  Diplomes的成員。

                 建築成就

                 在 20年代，建築學的發展中，各式各樣的競圖證明了摩天大樓極為顯要的地位。而 Raymond Mathewson則是其中

                     的佼佼者。1922年芝加哥論壇報為了慶祝 75週年紀念，舉辦了摩天大樓的競圖。他們由 23個國家 264個競圖案

                     中， 選擇了 Raymond Mathewson &  John Mead的設計。而芝加哥論壇報大樓在 1989年 2月1日成為芝加 哥地標。另

                     外他所設計的洛克斐勒中心(Rockefeller Center)在1933年也成為紐約的地標之一。
