Ruskin John（1819-1900）

生平簡介

Ruskin John是維多利亞女王時代英國最偉大的評論家及社會時事評論者。

Ruskin John生於1891年2月8日 英國，是有錢雪利酒進口商的兒子。15歲的時候他就已經是一位詩人及作家，並且熟悉聖經。1843年畢業於牛津Christ Church College。曾任教於Working Men's College, London及Oxford University，亦曾在Oxford University主持Find Arts。隨著William Morris，Ruskin支持著手工製品及其技術，相信工業化的結果會破壞生活中自然的節奏，他並兇蜢的攻擊工業化的弱點且積極的為勞工階級的人們推動藝術教育及訓練。同時在歐洲地區推動藝術及工藝運動。Ruskin John死於1900年1月20日  Brantwood，並留下許多的手稿作品及收藏。

建築成就

        是Arts & Crafts movement（藝術及工藝運動）的先趨者

Ruskin對紀元的貢獻是用不對稱和粗糙不平作為對新藝術理想。

"The Seven Lamps of Architecture" (1849)和"The Stones of Venice" (1853)兩本著作，前者主要是從他們的宗派主義者環境條件的解脫，PUGIN思想的一個再次反覆；後者的，尤其是本章"在黑體字的自然界(性質)方面"，是十九世紀的最有影響的文件之一。
