設計概念:
Santa’s new house is located at Danmark Fjord, the northeastern part of Greenland, where features the thickest ice sheet in Arctic but may soon crack in ten years due to severe global warming. Santa’s house is built on the high wall, standing out to defend the glacier in Arctic. The wall is constructed at the transition zone of permanent ice sheets and icebergs. We design a stick and massive base which affords to support both the structure and pressure in the deep ocean, and block the warm deep water from melting the ice sheets. Santa’s house is sat at the midpoint of the base to monitor the sea water and icebergs, and arch-shape holes are designed as the passageway for cracked ice. Besides, the Osmotic is equipped at each hole to provide stable and sufficient energy.
聖誕老人的新家選址於格陵蘭島東北角的DanmarkFjord,這個地方擁有全北極最厚的永冰層,卻即將因全球暖化而在數十年後面臨崩解。若能在海底建立一座巨牆,阻止大部分的溫水侵入,就可有效減緩冰川融化。聖誕老人的新家就建立在這座巨牆之上,站在地球的第一防線,捍衛北極的冰川。 這座巨牆位在永久冰層與碎冰的交界處,我們設計了一道厚實的基座以承擔上方建築與阻擋溫水流入冰層底部。聖誕老人的家位處這道基座的中點以監控海水與浮冰,建築下方藉由拱形的孔洞讓碎冰流出。其中也包含著利用海水鹽差能的水力發電裝置(Osmotic power),提供整座長城穩定的能源。
