建築設計的思維過程中，隱含著某種「抽象構思」的聯結，一個設計者如何思考問題、經由什麼方法引發設計的觸媒，刺激建築發生的多樣性，這些一向被視為黑箱作業的神秘領域亟需深入探究。在創作的過程當中，有關「概念」生成，往往被認為是設計者個人的先知高見，也許靈感也許神入無法教導，導致學校的教育著重在具體手法的培養訓練。本研究嘗試透過個人實際操作的三個設計案，進行設計概念的探討，提供一些經驗與大家分享設計在蒙發階段，刺激尋找概念的一些方式。
1.細胞分裂—國立藝術學院增建案
2.自體免疫、調節機制—21世紀未來住宅
3.遺傳機制解讀計畫—都市邊緣住宅
論文的第二、三、四章當中分別收錄單獨個案，其中每個案例分為三個部份陳述，第一部份屬於引發概念的相關資訊收集，第二部份說明如何將概念運用建築手法具體落實至人造物中，第三部份則是透過自我反省與檢討，將「概念生成」的黑箱過程予以透明化。第五章鎖定三個設計案在不同「概念引發」「概念生成」「概念選擇」方法上作一分析比較，結論最後對「從概念出發的設計方式」提出個人操作過後的一些建議。
從概念出發的設計方法，並不是唯一的方法，其精髓主要是希望透過概念的啟發，嘗試從另一個角度思考建築，提供另一種切入建築設計的可能；期望藉此提供設計者在初期構思中，較大的幻想空間；建築在面對過去幾十個世紀，所有大師共同努力之下，嘗盡了所有的可能；面對新世紀從事建築構思的我們，還有什麼值得再深入探索？從概念出發的思考模式，為當代提供一個新的契機。
【Abstract】
The thinking process of architectural design implies the connection with certain 〝abstract concepts〞. How a designer consider a problem and then stimulate the variety of architecture through a catalyst which produce the design is regarded as black box by which a mysterious field, has been researched necessarily. Within the creating process the related production of concepts are always considered as a prophet, or intuition, that leads to academics in emphasizing disciplines. Through three manipulated cases the research has tried to study the process of concepts and provide some experiences which intrigue some ways in searching concepts to share with everyone on enlightening stage.
1. Cell division－Extension in National Institute of the Arts.
2. Immune system－The future house.
3. A genetic mechanism－Urban housing.
Chapter two, Chapter three and Chapter four within the essay collect single case which is divided into three parts to state. First part collect related information which catalyze concepts. Second part states how to use architectural articulations to transform concept into artificial objects.
Third part transforms 「concept formation」black
box into transparency through reflection
and self-examination。The chapter fifth focuses on three cases to analyze and compare their methods which include 「concept catalysis」、
「conceptformation」and 「concept assess」. The conclusion proposes some
personal after-manipulation suggestions
about 「design methods which originate from
the concept」.�
Design methods which originate from the concept is not the only way, while the marrow is to prompt mental development through concept, to try to mediate the architecture from the another angle and provide other possibilities to overview the architecture as to provide the designer larger fantastic space on primary conceiving stage. All masters try out every possibilities to conceive the architecture in the past ten centuries, while this generation who face new coming century seem to try to discovery something-worthy and the thinking pattern from the concept provided chance for contemporary generation.
